Still wondering if there are any other ideas about prom makeup?

posted this question before but i wanted to see if there were any new ideas...royal blue prom dress....red hair, brown eyes, pale skin. I think ive decided blue shadow would be too much blue and be overpowering. A makeup artist at the mall said to do some natural/warm colors. I want something that looks a little more dramatic for the prom, but not over the top and overwhelming. Any new ideas?

Blue is actually a very good color, but use a soft, light shimmery blue so its not so overpowering. I have brown eyes and use blue shadow often because it makes your eyes stand out. Use a navy blue liner and black mascara.

If you really don't want blue, a light violet with some silver or a pale pink would look nice, too.

Use a lipstick color that has either cool or neutral undertones and is no more than 2 shades darker than your natural lip. Using one that is too dark will wash out the rest of your face.

Use a blush that is also has a cool or neutral undertone. Don't use one too dark or you may end up looking like an old lady or a hooker. Or both. :p

Start your makeup with good face wash and moisturizer. Next use a foundation that matches your skin tone to even out any blemishes in your complexion. Because you are young, you can use a powder foundation so it feels less bulky.

Apply blush from the outside in brushing it just below your cheekbone.

Lipstick should be applied on the upper lid first from the inside out. Follow along the edge of your lip and if you go over a tad, use a dry tissue to wipe it away right away.

For the eyes, use 2 colors, the darker color along the lid of the eye, and the lighter one below the brow bone to the crease. Blend the two colors together on your eyelid. Apply eyeliner from the inside out. Where you start on the edge of your eye depends on what you like. If your eye won't stay still, stretch the lid accross with your other hand and it will hold still. Wipe the excess off of the mascara wand onto a tissue and open the eye very wide. Apply it by holding the brush a the bottom of the lashes and sweeping upward as you blink. Apply a second coat after the first one dries for a more dramatic affect.

You could always have your makeup professionally done at a nice salon, not at the mall were the people are always going to be trying to sell you stuff that you don't need. Book an appointment beforehand like 5-2 hours before your prom so you have lots of time to get ready. Good luck and I bet you'll stand out :)

warm colors would be best,like different shades of brown,but if your looking for dramatic,then put eyeshadow on a little darker then normal,also try it now before prom to see if its what you want and like.

Those are just a few. I am sure if you google "prom dress" it will give you more though. I am begging you not to go to that prom in a blue dress. You only get one prom and you want to look good for it. Take it from me, a red had in a blue dress is NOT a good mix. Please pick something other than a royal blue dress before you start worrying about your makeup.

Blue isn't overpowering, as long as you do it right. Try a light, glittery blue, or a light, glittery gray. They will complement your dress. Or if you still don't want blue, use a light glittery brown or gold. Those are neutral. Lip colors should stick with a light pink or just clear. Or if you have the self-confidence to pull it off, bright red would complement your hair. Good luck and I hope I helped!

I like the Almay trios. They make at least one or two trios to bring out eye color for every eye color. It works for me, and it isn't too much. And I like lip gloss to go with more color on the eyes. That way you aren't wearing too much make-up.

To intensify the color of your eye shadow, use a sponge applicator. For a slightly more dramatic effect, apply your shadow wet with a brush; this will deepen and brighten the hues as well as increase shimmer

i would suggest smoky eyes

but if u want to suttle it down a little use light gray eye shadows and brown/blue eyeliner..

In order to achieve the 閳ユ笩mokey eyes閳?look you must select dark, neutral colors. Black eyeliner with gray eye shadow will work well for the smokey eyes appearance. First, line your eyes with a black eye liner pencil. Make sure you line both top and bottom paying close attention to lining around the natural eyelid contour. You can use concealer under your eyes with a thick coat of powder that will catch any excess eye shadow, which will later be brushed away so you don't get the dark colors under your eyes.

After you line your eyes carefully smudge the liner in the outer corners to soften the line. Then apply a thin line of black eye shadow over your eyeliner to further soften the look and create a stronger contrast. Next apply your eye shadow all over your eyelid, use a charcoal shadow or a neutral brown. Now top it off with black mascara and neutral lipstick and blush colors.

You could pull the top section back for a sort of half-up half-down look (but more down than up, if you know what I mean), so you let your face show. Or you could do a side-part, which always looks hot with curly hair. Or, better yet, you could combine the two, by pinning back the hair you put to the side. Keep it simple though, because I always find it annoying when girls do these cheesy curly gelled-back and sparkly jobs, instead of keeping it simple and elegant.

its not a sign, dont worry! maybe its just a sign that you wont get ripped off! definently go, three of my best friends didnt go last year but me and like 15 others did and we all had a ball and they really regretted not going and felt left out. its a definite high school experience, and i painted my own nails and had a friend do my hair and shopped around till i found a cheap but gorgeous dress. the most expensive thing was the ticket, so you dont need to break the bank. have fun!

You should go! A prom isnt just about having a date! You can do your hair at home with your moms help, go look on eBay or at a thrift store for a dress! (Thats where I got mine absolutley gorgeous) Its easier to get ready then people say it is.

You should go to PROM even if nobody asks you. Go with girlfriends. It is a once (or twice) in a lifetime event. You will regret it if you don't go. Especially to your Jr. Prom. the one you work to put on for the Sr. Class. It is very special. I didnt' get asked to mine and I was the chairman of the Prom Committee. So I asked a friend (male) who had just broken up with his girlfriend. We had a great time. No pressure ~ I made my dress myself (I learned to sew in 4-H). It can be expensive but hey, it is ONCE IN A LIFETIME !!!

Girl, let me tell you something.

Prom is such an expense and going off to college is so expensive... so maybe you and a few of your friends who aren't going to prom can just pig out, hang out, shoot the breeze

wax the day before - redness can go

start to get ready 2 hours before-make sure you're not late

bathe in oils

file nails and do mani-pedi

i am a girl and i am rolling my hair for prom, but i want soft curls all over, sadly, my hair doesnt hold curls at all! what should i do!!!???

Try to not wash your hair that day, curl will hold better when it has a little "dirt" in it. The day before wash your hair and use some moose or gel for hold. (If going a day makes your hair oily then take a small amount of baby powder in your fingers rub right at the root, this will soak up the oil. When I say small I mean small to much will leave your hair white looking)

Spray your hair with a styling hair spray. (It should say so on the bottle, nothing with a strong hold will do for this step or you wont be able to run your fingers through it) Then place your curlers in. When they have cooled off, take your blowdryer on the cool setting and blowdry your hair. This will lock in the curl.

Once you take it down, you can roll the curl around your finger and pin it to your head so that you can take it down right before you leave. Spray again with a styling hair spray.(Once you are ready to go take it down and spray with Paul Mitchell or a product equivalent)

If skipping this step then take down the curlers run your fingers through it (not a brush) and place the curls where and how you want them spray with a strong hold hairspray, I recommend Paul Mitchell freeze and shine (It has a great hold and wont leave your with white residue like some other sprays)

Always wear a button down shirt so you can take your shirt off easily.

if you want soft curls for prom and ur hair doesnt hold styles then try this:::

get ur hair professionally done and tell them to make the curls tighter than normal. (bcoz if u dont than half way thru prom you'll only have weird looking waves not soft curls) when u curl ur hair, they fall after a certain amount of time according to your hair type.

also, make sure the stylist uses a lot of hairspray. make sure it doesnt look "crusty" so ask her to lightly mist each curl instead of just spritzing the whole head. (so the top of ur head doesnt look crusty)

If you like staright hair, get a hair starighter, I think that looks great.

Otherwsie, if you want to go curly, a curling iron is best. curl your hair in in front. and curl it out is the back. Good Luck...

Wear it up on top in a bun. Lay down across the bed with your head hanging down. Brush it really, really well from the scalp toward the floor. Gather it up like a pony-tail on the top of your head with a rubber band or such like. Then spin it long-ways like a rope and gently swirl it around the rubber band to hide it and pin it in place - then spray with hair spray like mad so it will stay up.

This is easy, inexpensive, and looks very sophisticated.

I think it looks lovely when girls get a curling iron (or really large rollers) and make those classic waves; you should make a side-part; it looks nice and classic, easy to do, and it is not overdone looking. By the way, don't use a straightening iron, it ruins your hair...

You should probably wear your hair in an updo, so the straps don't disappear under your hair... unless it doesn't matter if their seen.

Updo: This style will probably work well at prom, since you'll be dancing your hair will be out of the way. Ask your stylist about updo options, depending on your hair type. If you have curly or thin hair it might not be possible to get an updo.

Down: I suggest going for big, loose waves or curls if you wear your hair down. It's a classic, romantic look that everyone will be jealous of!

Normally with thin straps, the accessories are a little more "bold", and the hairstyle is worn in an up-do. Another suggestion: pick up a copy of In Style magazine. I am a Middle School Hair stylist here in Airdrie and Im in Eighth grade and at least 16 people want me to do their hair for prom at the end of the year,the dance starts at seven and school ends a 3:30 so how should i do their hair, should i let them pick out a style out a magazines a day or two before prom or should i just plan out styles and they get what they get? I know im asking early because i still have 9 months buti must plan ahead, and i even have to get myself ready and they want me to do their make up... HELP!

16 is a lot for 3hrs... let them pick their hairstyles and it is better if you give it a try in advance... have an assistant who can help you or train someone before the big day... i am not sure if the girls agree if someone does for them.. but when you cant do it atleast you can train someone to help you right... if you have some heads given to another trainee of yours, you should be able to do it...

Well here's a few suggestions: Pick three hair styles you can do well and fast, and you tell the girls these are the three choices they have to pick from. If they have a problem with it, tell them time is an issue due to the amount of heads you will be doing that day (including your own) , this way you gave them the choice to go else where. Remember two many choices become overwhelming to both parties. Also, about the make up......just do their foundation, let them do their own eyes, lips and cheek blush. This way you gave them a great start on their own individual preference; less or more. I think these tips will help you reduce the time you spend on them, so you can get yourself ready too.

Waxing is not the best idea or choice to do. The reason why is because later on you will grow even darker and more hair then you have now on your face or the places you are thinking on waxing. I recommend to just bleach your facial hair like blonde so it less noticeable and then you dont have to wax it every single day because they are going to grow thicker, darker, and more if you wax and expect to wax more den just a special occasion. You should only get a little redness but be careful. My nail lady waxed my lip by accident because I had a little bit of blonde hair and now I have to go in and wax it all the time because it grew back in darker in color.

and that about it growing thicker and darker is not true i talked to a lady who is proffessional ... the more u wax the more you pull out the root ... eventually the root will get weaker and lighter and not grow in darker but if u shave it, it will get worse (for example if u pull weed in ur garden it won't grow back as fast ... but if u just cutt off the top you're triming it and hair/plants love trimming makes the root stronger) so wax is better

I'd say, figure out how many you can COMFORTABLY do that night. Remember to keep time for yourself to get ready and look beautiful. If it's going to stress you out too much, take less people. Be generous since it's obviously something you love to do, but don't give at the expense of having a good time at prom yourself.

Keep some styles on hand for the ones that don't know quite what they want so you don't have them upset after you're done, because even though they said they don't care what they get, they do now. Have them pick something, and go with that one. Let each person know you're on a tighter schedule than they are, but nicely.

It's good you're not trying to figure this out last minute, but don't stress too much - my bet is that a lot of the girls will decide later on to get their hair professionaly done, no offense to you. It's just part of the prom experience. :)

You're going to be wayyy stressed if you do 16 girls hair! it's good you want to plan ahead..

i would say that since you get out of school at 3:30, your first appointment could be at 3:45(depending on how far away from school you live?). and it should take atleast 45 minutes to do their hair. My mom is a hairstylist, and it takes about an hour!. you dont want to rush and make their hair sloppy and them be upset.

i would only do two or three girls, and try to be done by 5:00, which will be hard to get them done in that time! but that way, you can get dressed, do your makeup, and do your hair, and take pictures -and not have to rush* since the dance starts at 7:00.

i guess either do the girls that asked first! or your bestfriends! but yes, have them bring you a picture asap so you know in advance what you will be doing/needing and have an estimate on how long it will take.

if you only have time for one or two girls, then thats that! don't try to do more than you can, because you need to look awesome yourself!

*And doing the makeup for them, -tell them you are truely sorry but you don't have the time!

hello, i am a hairdresser as well and when i had a lot of people to do for wedding and such first have all your tools set out the night before. hair pins bobby pins rubber-bands etc. i would have them come with there hair moused and dried maybe even tell them to put hot rollers in before they come. ask a friend to help assist you. that really helps the stress level. give everyone an appt. so you don't have 20 girls in a small space stressing you more. just what you need others saying why don't you do it up or wear it down. changing minds or influencing girls who already had a style chosen also if you practice on them before maybe they realize they can do it themselves. try and tell them you have to charge them. i bet your list gets shorter yet. as far as make-up use model in a bottle after application, your assistant could do this as well as the make-up. this will keep it in place all night long. good luck.

Hi!

I need some help finding a perfect prom dress/hair/accesories.

I'm about 5'7. I have an hour glass frame. I have dark brown shoulder length hair. Dark brown eyes. I have fair skin tone (I will be tanning of course..but keep in mind the fair skin) I also want to try to camoflauge my arms. (hate them for some reason!)

Can someone suggest a good color dress? And style? And hair/accesories ideas?

Also--does anyone have a "get in shape fast for prom" sorta work out?! LOL

Dark reds usually suit dark hair and eyes. U could wear a shrug type thing to cover Ur arms.

As with hair, U should go and see Ur hairdresser, they normally have some great ideas and can give U the perfect look for prom.

Accesories should be matched to Ur dress, so when U have found Ur perfect dress, go looking for Ur accesories.

im a goth so i hair dyed black that comes to around my shoulders and i have a fringe that comes to my eyebrows. i want my hair down any ideas what i can do to it for my prom without cutting or dying my hair coz i want my hair back to normal the next day. also something that i can do in no more than 40 mins as im traveling to my town back from another town most of the days so im limited on time to get ready.

How about having the hair up top put in braid %26amp; keep the sides and back down? Secure the end of the braid with a plain black hair-tie and you're all set. This looks *really* cute and only takes about 5 minutes. Plus, it goes with literally anything so you don't have to worry about the style clashing with your clothes or attitude.

So... prom?

Prom is coming up pretty soon, and my boyfriend asked me to go with him. He's a junior, and I'm a freshman.

I feel really stupid asking this.. but prom is supposed to be like a pretty big deal... right? (or is everyone just psyched about it?) haha.

do you have any tips on:

dresses (long vs short)?

shoes (most people take off their shoes once they get to prom... right?)

hair styles (up vs down)

I'm completely clueless as to what to expect... haha.

dress-should be shorter for your first prom and longer for your 2nd

shoes-make sure you pracice alot!

hairstyle-up if you have a short neckline, down if its a long neckline

for prom i'd say a long dress, %26amp; shoes to match your dress, but yes most girls do take them off asap lol..%26amp; i always wear my hair up to prom and homecomings.

Long dress, but I warn you, don't go all out like you will for your prom. Girls don't like it when you overshadow them. Go for something simple.

Don't go casual, but don't go all out to the extreme. Girls will resent you.

I suggest you wear your hair up, practise doing it a few days before b.c its not worth it to pay a hairdresser for a night that isn't yours.

Accessories, go simple. Always the best bet.

wear a medium length dress and as far as your hair wear it pinned up really pretty so you won't sweat your style out if you get hot or you're dancing..shoes get some heels and if you want to come out of them so be it..good luck!!!

well senior prom is the biggest deal in high school so this one isn't soo important..

alot of girls go for the long brightly colored dresses but i wore something different.

i got a white dress white a 3 1/2'' black ribbon thingy going around my rib area. and it had some black flowers on it not alot tho; and it was strapless. the dress went right about under my knees and then i had just regular pointy black heels.

my hair was put up but i had some puffiness to the front with my bangs to the side. and then the rest was curled and bobby pined around the back..

i loved how i looked at prom.. it was more of a classic look then the more "prom" look.

Prom is a pretty big deal, every girl likes to get all dressed up every once in a while. The length of your dress really depends on your height. If you are shorter, I would say wear a short dress. And if you are tall, go for a longer one. Since you are a freshman, a short dress would be fine either way. Make sure you are comfortable in it though, you will be in it for pictures, the dance, and probably a little while after so you dont want to be uncomfortable. Do not do a medium length dress. It makes you look very short. Either go long or short. Some people take off their shoes, but others don't. Make sure you get your dress before your shoes so you will know height needed. I would say stick with gold or silver heels, don't do a color for you shoes. As for your hair, it too depends on the dress. If your dress is opened in the back and has a pretty design (most dresses this year are focusing on the back) wear your hair up so people can admire the back of the dress, but if it is simple in the back, I would say hair down and curly. Not too curly though, loose curls and pin it back so its not all in your face. Don't be nervous. You will have so much fun! Here are some sites with pretty cute dresses. Good Luck!

The first reason I didn't go to my prom was because the dinner for the couple costs $500. Of course, this is without prom dress, hair, nails, manicure, pedicure, shoes, bag, and professional photos at the prom as well as the after-prom outfit and costs for the after-prom activity. All of these costs together could easily reach $2000. Secondly if I could afford such costs, I still don't think I would have enjoyed it because the whole night seems fake, especially with people trying to find dates at the last minute, friendships being ruined over who's in which limo etc...

I went to my prom, it was last Saturday. I had a blast. I hope your not going becuase of money. There is so many thing for prom you don't have to do. A lot of people borrow a dress from somebody, and one of your frineds could do your hair, make-up, nails, etc. You don't have to go get them done. %26amp;%26amp; about dinner, you don't have to go out. Maybe your mom and an older sibling, can fix you and your date a nice dinner, and you can set it up in your dining room, make it sweet and memorable. You don't have to have a limo, a lot of people don't. And to be totally honest, I've never gone with a date and had tons of fun, just go with the girls. Good luck =]

I didn't go to my high school's prom. I was a dork in high school and didn't have a steady boyfriend, so was never asked. I had a couple of male friends, but nothing serious. Even if I'd been asked, my parents would have been too cheap to buy me the dress and all that went with it.

i didnt go to my junior prom because i was in basic training and i didnt go to my senior prom because i was in Iraq. I got my GED and joined the army halfway through my junior year to support my mother and brother.

No I didn't go to my high school prom because I had dropped out of high school and went into the Navy.

I went to high school proms however with girls I was dating who invited me.

Back then, the girls wore a nice formal dress, and the boys wore white sports coats and cumber buns.

We went in our private cars. Sometimes we went to a restaurant for dinner sometimes we didn't.

Total expenses were in the neighbour hood of a couple of hundred dollars for her formal dress and his sports coat and black pants combined. We never had all the extra cash for what they spend today. Our parents would never have stood for us to spend that kind of money.

i didn't go to prom because i dropped out of high school, and 4 years ago at 15 i didn't think missing prom or the high school experience would bother me, but now at 19 seeing people i know going to prom and graduating makes me feel bad , i still believe my reasons for dropping out are justified, i just wish things could have been different

I am a Middle School Hair stylist here in Airdrie and Im in Eighth grade and at least 16 people want me to do their hair for prom at the end of the year,the dance starts at seven and school ends a 3:30 so how should i do their hair, should i let them pick out a style out a magazines a day or two before prom or should i just plan out styles and they get what they get? I know im asking early because i still have 9 months but I must plan ahead, and i even have to get myself ready and they want me to do their make up... HELP!

You're going to be wayyy stressed if you do 16 girls hair! it's good you want to plan ahead..

if you only have time for one or two girls, then thats that! don't try to do more than you can, because you need to look awesome yourself!
