I reckon that you should go kind of funky. Like with really straight bits, tiny little plaits that have made it go slightly crimped and some soft waves... I once saw a do like that on a girl who I used to work with and it looked so original and cool!!

To get the crimped look, wet sections hair, some underneath and some half way under and a couple on top - depending on thickness of course, then plait them fairly tight and leave overnight. In the morning, use your straighteners on the plaits to stretch them out, as sometimes the kink in your sleep, unplait and there you go....

For the curls, just use some of those heated curlers or you can use GHD's or simillar to get that effect, but it's tricky... be okay after practice!

Word of warning though, put the plaits in your hair when it's slightly wet and then dry and straighten the rest. It beats taking the plaits out and then thinking, "oh sh*t, I have to straighten the rest"...

long hair i assume.

get a roller set (like the little old ladies) and pin up the crown area. you could also do little knots in it.

if it's strapless you want to have something on your shoulders or you could end up looking like a q-tip head.

definitely wear it up. spiral curl it and then put it up in a pony tail. then just mess around with bobby pins until you find something you like. a salon would probably be good and you could start them off by saying you want it up and spiral curled. thats how mine was and my ponytail was parted to the side because i had side swept bangs and they spiral curled them. i really liked it. good luck!

I really don't like that dress for a prom.It looks more like a sweet 16 or something.But on the other hand I do love your idea of having your hair curled up.The fallowing dresses in my opinion look modern,sophisticated,bold,the colors are girly but at the same time flirty and It looks like it would make a statement at the prom.

I love all these prom dresses they are very unique.

Now for the make up you can go too over board it has to look natural because you don't want to look fake.

For the lips: Use a sun kissed pink or just use a glossy lipstick so that it will make your lip lucious and bigger

For the eyes:Just use a khaki or tan eye shadow and on the eyeline use a charcoal black eyeliner.

For the cheecks:use a sparkly peach or pink tone

For the eyebrows:take off all the leftover hairs

The half up is in a bun (can be either messy bun or bun) to make the bun look fun stick some chopsticks through it to make it look creative and to add some spice. You can get a black or the color of your dress headband. And you can have a rose clip in your hair usaully found in claires or bloomingdales. You can also leave it down or you can make it crimped (wavy). You can also make your hair sparkly and add some fancy clips like sparkly ones that make you stand out from everyone because of the sparkle. You can add some color to your hair (streaks) any color. Either in a way thats easy for you to do quickly and that you're confident with - or get someone to do it for you! Remember to practice several times first and make sure any clips etc match your dress.

Also try and have a style that you wont fiddle with too much during the evening. If you wear it down, make sure it wont make your neck too hot - not nice to be all sweaty when you're meant to be looking beautiful!

This would be my suggestion. Keep you hair elegant like your dress. Curl it, simple california beach curls. Then if you wish you can pin up some curls for that short and long hair effect, layering. If your afraid your curls wont stay, use a slight film of Got 2 Be Sexy on your hair, it will get a little hard but at least the shine and the curls stay in!

I think you should side sweep your hair and put it in a low ponytail. You can even curl the ponytail if you want, and/or put a small rhinestone/sparkly clip in your hair on the side. Hide the elastic by wrapping a peice of your hair around it and securing it with a bobby pin. I think that will look very chic.

It depends a lot on the person who puts them in, but you're looking at 4-6 weeks. I've heard of so many horror stories of people who've had breakage down at the scalp from the sew in kind.

You might be better off going with temporary extensions that you can put in and take out yourself. Hair U Wear makes some great ones that clip in. You can take them out at night before bed and IF you feel like it you can pop them back in come morning. Jessica Simpson wears and endorses the Hair U Wear extensions and hair pieces called P.O.P.s (Put On Pieces). Price wise they are pretty darn reasonable too! You can get a set of really pretty synthetic extensions for under $100. The human hair ones are under $300.

I was wondering what other girls do with their short hair for formal dances and stuff.

My hair is dark dark brown, cut so in the back back it shows all my neck and then tapers to like chin length in the front. My bangs are short and cut across my face about an inch above my eyebrows. Kind of Egyptian/China Doll.

I have an appointment with my hair stylist (who's ALWAYS done my hair) on the day of the dance but neither of us have any set ideas. I want to have something to do with my hair.

I normally straighten it, and I want something different.

Any ideas? Please? =]

My prom dress was pink and this is what I did: I had my hair all curled and half up (the front was in twists and then my stylist pinned up pieces so that it was half up- i would suggest you play around at home just to see what hairstyle you think looks best, so then you're prepared when you go to the stylist), my nails I kept simple (I painted them a pale pink-same color as my dress- and had a firework design on each ring finger nail and i got my toes to match-except the design was on my big toes-- if you feel that it's too much pink then I would suggest a french manicure and pedicure), and my make-up I kept pretty simple too; I used Jergens Tanning lotion for a week before prom just to give myself a subtle glow because I am also fair skinned, since my face was a little tan I didn't use any foundation, I put on a little bit of bronzer to make my cheeks glow (bronzer with a little of sparkle in it), then used a very pale pink eye shadow and brightened my eyes by using black eyeliner and lash lengthening mascara. Just by keeping it simple I felt really pretty and not overdone and I got a lot of compliments all night long.

If you have straight hair, maybe you could crimp or curl it for the night. Then, take a clip and pin your hair back, or a big clip and clip it all together. Have fun with it!

Since your hair is straight you should curl it for a change, and if you have bangs straighten them out and because your dress is strapless your hair will look nice down. about the bugging of the hair, once you start dancing you could put it in a ponytail.

Have a side swept bangs, and leave your hair down.

It wont go itno your eyes, and your hair will still be down like you wanted.

You can curl the end of your hair for that, it will look cute!

You could also try a side pony, and curl the ends.

That would look nice, too.

I would stick in some elaborate clib on the opposite side of the side pony. It will balance things out, lol.

You might also consider taking your front bangs and pull them back and pin them down in the center of your hair line. It's really popular nowadays, lol.

Definitely up! Up-do's look great w/ straples dresses, and a single strand of pearls or simple necklace aroudnd your neck.

Around here, ppl go to hair salons and get it done for about $20 or so.... maybe you could do that? Don't go w/ clean hair. They like it a day or two after being washed so it will stay in the style they set it.

I would suggest going for a natural look with your make up...try using pale colored eyeshadows and lipglosses.

For your hair... I suggest a simple yet formal up do. Like a pin up style. (Put hair in ponytail and pin back small piece of hair 1 by 1. Fix with spray.)

ok, this is easy, lol. Don't wear any foundation b/c it will beak out ur skin (trust me). U have really pretty eyes. lol. I would wear black eye liner. Wear gold, bronze, or brown eye shadow. U can wear up to 4 diff. eye colors of eye shadows on ur eyes at once, so u could wear other eye shadows that match ur pick (ur choice). I would wear maskara. And wear pink lip gloss. If I were u I would wear my hair the way that it is. It looks good. Good Luck!!!

For makeup go to one of the counters at a department store like MAC or clinique and get them to do your makeup. I think you have to buy something (like an eyeshadow or something) but they will do your whole makeup for you. Just call or stop by to find out how much you have to spend to get a make over. My friend got one done at MAC and she looked AMAZING.

Then the next day when she styles it she divides it up and twist little pieces and pins it up so that only some of it is hanging. It is not hard to do and she does it pretty fast, but if I had to do it myself it would take me a little longer then what she takes.

you could put "diamond" clips (lil' baby diamond clips) in your hair in random areas, and give yourself some highlights around the face....that's what I did when I got a really bad, reallllllly short haircut and I had an event---I put those tiny clips in my hair, mine had tiny jeweled flowers in them.

For Junior prom i'm wearing a coral dress wity studded straps. I don't usually wear makeup but I want to try it for prom. I use eyeshadow sometimes but want to also try lip color. I have now clue what colors would look good with my coral dress, skin tone, and hair. Please help me out!

i'm happy to help! so okay, im going to do this step by step, with help from the mac website, www.maccosmetics.com, because they have pictures and descriptions of all of their products, so its easier for you to get an idea of the colors.

of course, you can always just use the actual cosmetics from mac.

so...

first of all, wash your face! itll clean out your pores, remove any extra oil, and leave you shining!

second, apply a foundation. i cant really name a color because idon't know the exact hue of your skin. so im leaving foundation up to you =)

second, eyes.

since its prom, you'll want to look gorgeous. try a simple smokey eye, but with a pop of gold.

first, line your eyes with a black kohl eyeliner, and smudge it with a q-tip. im a firm believer in kohl eyeliner because it looks gorgeous and smokey. i recommend annabelle's black kohl eyeliner.

next, take a gorgeous goldish eyeshadow and lightly dust you whole lid. i recommend something like mac's "goldmine"

then, take a darker, more brown-gold color and put in on the outer corner of your eyelid in a sideways v-shape, the point being on the outer extremity of your eyelid.

i recommend something along the lines of mac's "romp"

then, take a really dark brown color and dust it into the crease of your eyelid, something like mac's "espresso"

then, take a smudge brush and gently blur the lines and, well, smudge it.

then, mascara, mascara, mascara. put 3 coats on top and two on the bottom for extra drama. i recommend covergirl's lashblast (in the orange tube) its enormous brush is sure to pump up the volume on your lashes.

next, your cheeks.

smile widely and apply a tiny bit of pink blush to the prominent apples of your cheeks, such as mac's "dame"

then, if you want, take some bronzer and put in kust on top of your cheekbones, to accent them, and also just under your eyebrows, to make your eyes look larger.

then, lips. you dont want to go too dramataic, as that would contrast your dress and over dramatize your makeup since you already have a dramatic eye.

a simple, shiny gloss in a thin layer would do, such as mac's lipglass in "lychee luxe". your dress will pick out the coral in it and it will complete your look.

i cant give very precise directions since it was MY hair that was getting done... but for senior ball last year i had all my hair into a ponytail at the crown %26amp; my hair was curled with a small-medium curling iron %26amp; sprayed with hairspray often %26amp; then the hairdressers scrunched it up into a messy bun (still in the ponytail) %26amp; used like 30 bobbypins to keep it in its place but it looked like i had a curly bun %26amp; i have side bangs so she sprayed them back %26amp; to the side (NOT cementing them to my forehead. i HATE that). it was really pretty %26amp; she finished it off with light glitter spray. looks great with dangly earrings! have someone try to do this for you some time before prom night to see if it works for you!

JC Penney's hair salon- that's where I went for my my updo for prom. There are lots of other local salons but they are different depending on where you live. There are JC Penney's everywhere. I think my updo was maybe $30 or $40. It was VERY pretty.

Very cute hairstyle, even though I'm not too fond of Hilary Duff myself.

Materials:

-Flat/straightening iron

-Hairspray (optional, but will help out a lot)

-Hair mousse (optional, but will help out a lot)

-Comb/brush

You should first wash your hair and condition it (but of course). Put your head upside down while blowdrying to add a bit of volume. Then when you're done, take a flat iron and straighten your hair out. Let your hair cool down for about 10 minutes, then comb or brush it straight. Afterwards, take the hair at the middle and crown of your heads and do a pullback to your hair. Tie it with a small hair tie that matched your hair color. Make sure its loose and low. Then flip that part of your hair up and use a barrette to clip a bit above wear the original hair tie is. If your sticks up like a fan, use hairspray or hair mousse (preferably hair mousse) on it and comb it down a bit. Divide your bangs into to different sides.

I hope this helps out a lot! I'm sorry that my instructions might not match Hilary's original hairstyle.

Hi guys...I have my prom tomorrow and dont know how to do my hair. I was considering the idea of straightening my curly hair temporarily using the straightening iron. I "think" it would look nice?? By the way, Im wearing a maroon dress that is almost sleeveless and long in length. At the back, there is an average deep neck. So should I leave my shoulder length hair open? And if open should I straighten it? And note that I have never tried strightening my hair before! Or should I tie it up in a hairstyle?

But I would honestly do ringlets, they are great! like kind of a lose curl, and I wouldnt wear my hair up, just because of the back of the dress, down would be prettier. I personally think up-do's are a little outdated, but that's just my opinion!! I think it looks a lot better when girls have their hair down, straightened really nicely, or curled/waved. I think you should curl it in loose curls, using a 2 inch curling iron, and either leave it down, or put it up in a half-do with a bump at the top.

I have curly hair too, and it can be a pain! So, maybe I'm biased, but I think straight hair can look elegant and would be a change from what you normally wear. You could get one of those rhinestone or thin silver headbands to add some sparkle too.

If you do straighten it, make sure you get some heat-protector spray. Otherwise, you will fry your hair, and it won't stay straight. Before you take the iron to it, work in some anti-frizz or straightening balm. Work in very small sections, and slide the iron through your hair - don't leave it in one place for more than a few seconds.

That dress is BEAUTIFUL. I would wear silver shoes - heels of some sort.

As far as your hair goes if you have long hair up dos with curls are always good for proms. If you have shorter hair you could just curl it and maybe put some pretty clips or barettes in it.

Make up I'd do whatever you usually do if you get silver shoes maybe use silver eyeshadow with black mascara and eye liner and maybe just some clear lipgloss.

Now for makeup,I think you should either go for a very natural look,or have it done to match your dress.

Try some dark blue/purple shades on the eye lids,and a natural shade on your lips. MAybe even a plummy shade if you find one that looks good.

You can also try some silvers since your shoes,and some of the dress may be silver. Put a little shadown on the crease of your eyes,and put on lots of eyeliner and mascara. For the lips,go for a more natural shade.

Ok, this is coming from experience!!!! With a strapless dress wear your hair down, at least partially!! If not, there is too much skin w/ your face,neck and upper chest, in pictures it does not look all that great! Shoes....... this is THE most important part of your whole outfit!!! You have to be cute and comfy, when I went to prom my shoes were immediately stripped off!!! Do loose spirals with lots of volume. (Leave the last one inch of your hair out of the curling iron to avoid the 3rd grade spiral look.) Flip head upside down, spray well for hold and volume at roots. Let spray dry for about a minute, then separate curls with fingers.
